Racing Odds: Amralah For The Melbourne Cup
September 18th, 2014 by Pom de TurfWe’ve been talking this week about the high-profile horses who will be starting to go into quarantine before they travel to Australia in time for the 2014 Melbourne Spring Racing Festival, and there’s already an exciting group of Europeans locked away – well-known prospects Red Cadeaux and Dandino amongst them. But if you have a look over the Racing odds we’ve got for you, you’ll see that there are some relative unknowns in the mix who might have a say in some of the big races.
One of those could easily be Amralah, a horse who’s gone into quarantine already, and who will be in the care of trainer Robert Hickmott whilst he’s in Australia. He’s going to be an outside chance for the Melbourne Cup, you might have to say, but he comes with some good form behind him: a couple of wins on the bounce including the most recent Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes that mean there’s a certain amount expected from him over in Australia. Hickmott knows his way around a Melbourne Cup, too, after he registered a winner in 2012 with Green Moon, another import from the UK.
So keep an eye out for Amralah’s name when you’re looking over the Racing odds for the 2014 Melbourne Cup – it could be that this English raider comes in under the radar!
