Racing Odds: Brace For An Earthquake?

If you’ve been by these pages in recent days and weeks, you’ll know that we’re starting to set our sights on the Melbourne Spring and the Melbourne Cup in particular – and we’re not the only ones by any stretch. This is the time when the trainers start to make their plans in broad strokes for the run-up to the biggest race in our calendar, and the time when punters start to look over the Racing odds already beginning to appear…

And one prospect whose name we’re heard already is that of Darley filly Earthquake: a strong year as a two-year-old has her new trainer John O’Shea entertaining the possibility of a Spring Carnival campaign. She’ll run in August in the Silver Shadow Stakes, and that will give her trainers and all the interested parties watching her closely a better idea of how she would fare in the spring. We’ve yet to see odds for Earthquake, but we’re early days yet, and there’s lots of chance for her to make a bid between now and the spring – she could definitely be one to watch!
