Racing Odds For The Melbourne Spring: Criterion To Target Cox Plate?
August 12th, 2014 by Pom de TurfKiwi stayer Criterion is right in the Racing odds for the Caulfield Cup on Sportsbet at the moment, and he’s a real prospect for the Melbourne Spring. In fact, he’s one of a few very exciting prospects lining up for the 2014 Spring Season, and we’re curious to see which of them will come good on the big stage, which will still need to mature before they can perform at the highest level, and those (dare we say it?) who can’t make the jump up to races like the Cox Plate, the Caulfield Cup and the Melbourne Cup itself.
But what will the Melbourne Spring hold for Criterion? He’s a Kiwi stayer who comes into the 2014 Spring Season with a decent reputation, and with a few good wins behind him. He’s a classy prospect, that’s for sure, and he’s right in the odds for the Caulfield Cup – he’s getting odds of $21.00 for that race right now. But will he be more likely to be aimed at the Cox Plate? We’re not inside the mind of Criterion’s trainer David Payne, obviously, but it seems like the Cox Plate is very much in the frame, so look out for that as a possibility.
We’ve got all the Racing odds for Criterion, a classy Kiwi import with recent wins in the Australian Derby and the Rosehill Guineas – watch out for him!
