Racing Odds: Kirramosa Getting Back To Fitness
July 2nd, 2014 by Pom de TurfAfter a couple of great runs that won her the Crown Oaks and the Wakeful Stakes in 2013, hopes were high for Kirramosa, and the future looked bright. We can only imagine the disappointment of trainer John Sargent at the news that a scan had shown a bone fragment in a fetlock, and that Karrimosa would be sidelined for months. She took no part in the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, but she’s back in work now, and her camp are setting their sights high for her.
According to Sargent: ‘she has done very well. We didn’t want to take her to Queensland so we left her out for about three or four months in the end. She has been back in for about six weeks now and she is not far away from having a run along. I will get her up to a trial and probably give her ten days in the paddock and just work her up to the spring. She will aim for the Cups races and she looks a lot stronger than last season.’ In fact, it could be that the spell in the stables turns out to be a long-term positive for Karrimosa – time and the Spring will tell, but she’s already getting odds for the Melbourne Cup, and those odds are $34.00 on Sportsbet as of today…
