Racing Odds: Look Out For Cluster On Saturday
July 19th, 2014 by Pom de TurfAfter a good win (by more than nine lengths) back in June, Fastnet Rock colt Cluster will be in action again at Rosehill ths weekend, and there will be plenty of pundits and Racing enthusiasts – and his trainers! – watching and taking stock of when he’s at, and where he might be able to get to in time for the Spring Season. And, of course, how a run – good or otherwise – will affect his and plenty of other Racing odds…
Aside from that strong win at Kembla Granage in June, Cluster put in a good performance in the Stutt Stakes last year to draw some attention to himself, and he had a run in the Caulfield Guineas, too. But it was the romp home that his trainers felt that he needed if he was going to make a bid for the Spring Season: ‘if he was going to measure up, he needed to win a race like that,’ explains Peter Snowden, one half of the training team. ‘What I liked about his win was the way he went through the line. He was strong, and the further he went, the stronger he looked.’ Even better than that, Snowden is pretty optimistic about Cluster’s prospects at Rosehill, and eager to make it a stage in his progression: ‘he’s in good order, I’m happy with his work, he’s ticking along nicely, and Saturday is just another race for him to see where he fits in. I am mindful of how far away the main races are, so I’m trying to spread his (runs) a bit. I want him racing around September and October. We’re only just into July, so I don’t want to have too many races ¬before the main ones come, if he’s up to them. That’s why I’ve left it three weeks since his first-up run.’
So Cluster is perhaps another name to take note of when you’re considering the looming Spring Season, and when you’re looking over the Racing odds we’ve got for you on the other end of that link…
