Racing Odds: Looking To The Spring Sprints
July 12th, 2014 by Pom de TurfIt can sometimes feel like the real fliers are left out of the headlines in the Spring Season, with the media focus trained on the really high-profile races: the Melbourne Cup itself, of course, but the Cox Plate and the Caulfield Cup, as well. The second week in October features a couple of big events over 1600m that we’re very much looking ahead to, and looking forward to, so we’ll get the chance to look at the real fliers in action.
But who those fliers will be is open to debate. Between now and the start of October we’ll be bringing you all the Racing odds as we get them, and a steady drip of the news that catches our eye. Drop by this week for a closer look at the prospects of Kiwi filly Bounding, who will likely be making the (comparatively short) trip to Australia in the Spring to contest both the Manikato Stakes and the VRC Sprint Classic. We’ll be interested to see how she goes, of course, but she’s only one of a few horses that could be eye-catching. More on them as we get it!
And in the meantime there are odds starting to appear on our favourite betting sites – like Sportsbet – for the biggest races of the Spring calendar, including the Melbourne Cup, the Cox Plate and the Caulfield Cup. If you’re interested in picking out the horses that are causing the early buzz, then we’ve got all the Racing odds you need at the end of that link. You’ll see that the (very) early favourite for the Race That Stops A Nation is The Offer, with odds of $13.00 on Sportsbet as of today, but there’s plenty more to digest in the field, too…
