State of Origin Odds: Maroons Selection Headaches

June 3rd, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

A week is a long time in sport. And it can feel longer in rugby league – especially when we’re waiting for Game Two of a State of Origin series that could give us a result Blues fans have been craving for the best part of a decade. And it’s more than a week to go before Game Two! We’ve got all your State of Origin odds if you follow the links, and we’ll be keeping an eye on the news between now and the 18th, in particular the news coming out of the Queensland camp…

Because this State of Origin series has already seen a pretty incredible turnaround. In the run-up to Game One, all the pressure seemed to be on the NSW players and coach, and all the press scrutiny was on their team selection, and on the tactics they would bring into the first game. One enormous defensive effort later, and that spotlight has shifted to Queensland, the men they will pick to try to win Game Two, and how they will try to break down that Blues line. Billy Slater looks to be a huge loss if he can’t beat some pretty long odds and recover from a shoulder injury in time for Game Two, and the Maroons are currently mulling over a pretty big decision: moving Greg Inglis to five-eighth for Game Two. How that changes the set-up of the side, and how GI adapts to the move from fullback, remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: the pressure is on Queensland now, and it’s NSW carrying the favourites tag with odds of $1.75.
