Sydney Getting $1.40 odds Against West Coast
February 26th, 2014 by TJ DilferThe Swans had a great start to the NAB Challenge against Greater Western Sydney, and there will be plenty of pleased folk in the Sydney coaching staff. Throw in the prospect of a Swans debut for Lance Franklin – as well as the return to the side of senior players like Mike Pyke, Lewis Roberts-Thomson and Lewis Jetta – and you can see why Sydney are the bookies’ favourites at $1.40 to register another win when they meet West Coast on Thursday night. It’s likely, too, that – in the spirit of the NAB Challenge – it will be senior players who make way for all those big names that come into the squad, so there will still be plenty of young, fresh faces in the Swans side competing to get themselves onto the teamsheet for Round One.
And what about West Coast? After an 84-point thrashing of Freemantle in their first NAB Challenge game, spirits will be high in the Eagles camp. It looked like a below-strength Dockers side, and they definitely rolled over, but it was still a solid West Coast performance, and they will carry some good momentum into Thursday night’s game. Will you be betting against them to register another win at $2.90? The bookies have it as most likely a closer game than either side was involved in last time out: the most likely margin is Sydney by fewer than 40 points at $2.20, and there’s a tribet on offer on Sportsbet right now that’ll give you $2.85 for either side by fewer than 16.
