NRL Odds For The Auckland Nines
January 22nd, 2015 by TJ DilferThe deadline for the naming of the squads that each of the NRL franchises will field in the Auckland Nines comes around this week, and we’re starting to get a little bit excited about the tournament. One of the things we’ve been doing in advance of that announcement date is checking in on the NRL odds for the Auckland Nines – we’ve had a few squads named, and we’re keen to see how the odds change as more confirmed lists join them.
One of the key things about the Nines is Read the rest of this entry »

January 22nd, 2015 by TJ DilferIt’s not long now until the 2015 NRL season kicks off with the Auckland Nines (not the regular season, of course, but we’ll be glad to see some Rugby League back on our TV screens after the break) and we’ve got all the NRL odds you need for the tournament at the end of the link there. A little bit beyond the Nines, as well, there’s an All-Star game that you need to make sure you’ve got circled in the diary, and we’re seeing news that the squad has been named for the NRL side that will Read the rest of this entry »

January 21st, 2015 by TJ DilferWhen they burst onto our TV screens last year (unless, of course, you were there in the flesh, in which case it’s safe to say we’re jealous), the Auckland Nines were an untried format, and we weren’t at all sure what to expect. What we got was a very enjoyable pre-season exhibition, and a chance to see how some of the franchises might go in the season proper (and, of course, a chance to update how we see those NRL odds for the coming season).
So the bar is set pretty high for this year’s Auckland Nines, and it’s fair to say there’s Read the rest of this entry »

January 15th, 2015 by TJ DilferIt’s been a long break (though it will have felt much longer for the fans than it will have felt for the players, who have been working hard to prepare themselves for 2015), but the NRL season is coming back around again, and we’re starting to see NRL odds available on our favourite online betting sites.
And the first action of the new season is going to be Read the rest of this entry »

January 15th, 2015 by TJ DilferIt’s amazing how many fathers and sons you see in professional sport, and at the highest level, too. Whether it’s genetic, or if it’s because the players who make it know how to encourage the same success in their kids, we don’t know, but it’s always interesting to watch the next generation emerging.
Which is Read the rest of this entry »

January 15th, 2015 by TJ DilferTo even think about winning a game of Rugby League in the modern NRL, you have to go in with confidence that your big men can put you on the front foot. And that’s even more true if you’ve got ambitions of grabbing one of those top eight spots and maybe winning a title. Take a little look at the NRL odds for the coming season, and you’ll see that there are plenty of people – bookies included – who think that the Roosters are strong in that area: strong enough to be Read the rest of this entry »

January 7th, 2015 by TJ DilferNRL teams have to travel, and the NRL odds can be affected by a worse draw that will see a franchise collect more air miles than they might want. On the flip-side, of course, a better draw can mean that little bit extra recovery time between the big games, and in an incredibly tough contest like a Rugby League game, that could make all the difference.
A lot of it is Read the rest of this entry »

January 7th, 2015 by TJ DilferThe Dick Smith NRL Auckland Nines, or the Auckland Nines to you and me, have a tendency to divide opinion. Fans seem to like them – plus punters like the chance to see which sides are likely to make their NRL odds look long in the early season – and it’s a format of the game that we wouldn’t mind seeing get bigger and spreading to all parts of the globe as an ambassador for Rugby League (which might be massive here in Australia, but doesn’t get nearly the same audiences in other countries). But there are coaches who see the Nines as an unnecessary interruption to their pre-season preparation, and who aren’t at all keen to risk their players in the competition at all.
One of those coaches who take a dim view of the Auckland nines is Read the rest of this entry »

January 6th, 2015 by TJ DilferThe big men are the engine room of an NRL side, and they need to be able to put a side on the front foot if the men in the wide channels are going to capitalise. It might not be the aspect of the game that makes the highlights reel most often, but you know as well as we do that if a franchise’s forward pack can’t get one over the opposition, the NRL odds for each game and for the season are going to reflect that.
So there will have been some concern – and will still be some concern, especially amongst fans – at the way the 2014 season went for the St George Illawarra pack. There was Read the rest of this entry »

January 3rd, 2015 by TJ DilferGold Coast Titans co-captain Greg Bird had an end to 2014 that he’ll be wanting to forget, to say the least. It’s going to be difficult for him to put behind him, you’d think, but the big question is whether you think it’ll affect the NRL odds for the Titans, as well…
After a brush with the police resulted from the spectacularly ill-advised spot Bird chose to make an pit-stop on the day after his wedding, there were always going to be consequences. You could reasonably expect the new Mrs Bird to be less than impressed, but the Titans took a dim view of the incident, as well, and Bird won’t Read the rest of this entry »
