World Cup: Italy Odds – Outsiders or Contenders?
June 10th, 2014 by G WaldorfThe Italy side in the Brazil World Cup won’t be the star-studded constellation that maybe we’re used to seeing, but they are perennial contenders, as Australia learned to their agonising cost back in 2006. Recall, if you can, that Italy went on the win that World Cup – and keep that in mind when you look at Italy’s World Cup odds…
The Azzurri have four World Cup wins to their credit – their trophy cabinet must have strong shelves! You simply can’t write off a side with that sort of pedigree, even if the bookies have them as joint sixth-favourites (along with France) at odds of $23.00. When you consider that this is a youthful Italy squad that might surprise a few pundits, Italy could really be one of the sides to watch, especially in a group that contains England, Uruguay and Costa Rica. We’ll know more after that first clash between England and Italy about how both of them will go – we’ll definitely be watching!
Not just because the result could define the World Cup for both teams, either: Andrea Pirlo will no doubt light up yet another international tournament and look suave doing it, and there’s almost no predicting what Mario Balotelli will do!
