World Cup Odds: More Reasons To Watch
June 4th, 2014 by G WaldorfThe World Cup isn’t just about watching our boys rush bravely into the face of the group of death: Australia’s World Cup odds are more tempting for patriots that they are for pragmatists (although a look at all those betting markets and futures will turn up something, we’re sure…). There are plenty of other reasons to watch when the carnival that is the World Cup heads to Brazil, and with only days to go before it all kicks off, here are some of them:
Diego Costa. A native of Brazil, Diego Costa will be in Spain colours at the World Cup, and we’re very curious to see what sort of reception he gets from the very vocal Brazilian crowds. Especially if Brazil meet Spain, which they could do as early as the second round.
Social Media. There will be tweets aplenty lighting up the twittersphere (we think that’s what the kids are calling it these days), and with soccer players past and present very much involved, we’ll be just a heartbeat away from controversy and madness for the duration of the World Cup.
Selfies. For some of the reasons mentioned above, there will be some priceless photos taken over the course of the tournament. Professional soccer players aren’t what you’d call a shy, retiring bunch, and we’ll be expecting to see literally millions of selfies from them, from the fans, and maybe even from the coaches and referees. There will probably be nudity, tasteful or otherwise – Cristiano Ronaldo has already got the ball rolling with a magazine cover shoot with his girlfriend…
There are more, and we’ll be revisiting them between now and the start of the tournament, so make sure you check back. In the meantime, here are your World Cup odds!
