World Cup Odds: Reasons To Watch
May 31st, 2014 by G WaldorfAustralia’s World Cup odds make intimidating reading, so Socceroos fans will have to manage their expectations a little bit. We’re excited by the prospect of seeing an emerging Australia side full of youngsters take on the world, but we’ve been on the lookout for the best reasons to watch the World Cup in Brazil, and here are some:
England might end up in a penalty shoot-out. England’s World Cup odds aren’t that bad – you wouldn’t say they’ve got a team of world-beaters, but they go into the tournament with a chance to do well. If they end up in a penalty shootout, though, we get to see a whole nation bottle it. Again. World Cup magic.
Chile coach Jose Sampaoli. The man’s a ticking timebomb. We don’t know if a temper tantrum features in the Chile vs Australia odds, but we’ll be keeping an eye on the Chile dugout on June 14th: expect to see Sampaoli pacing like an ornery caged tiger. Throw Gary Medel into the mix, and there’s potential for fireworks in the Chile game – can you think of another soccer player who has been tasered in the midst of a riot he basically caused?
Brazil. The whole team’s bursting with talent – hence the favourites tag – but the front three are who we’ll be watching especially closely. If they find rhythm early in the tournament, there could be many, many goals scored, and Brazil’s World Cup odds will get shorter rather than longer…
We’ll be back between now and the start of the tournament with more reasons to watch – in the meantime, make sure you’ve got all the World Cup odds you need by following the link!
