Collingwood Magpies may have improved their chances of AFL success in 2010 after securing the services of ruckman Darren Jolly.

The Pies agreed a deal with Sydney Swans for the bulky native Victorian, who already has 166 AFL matches under his belt and is now expected to finish his career with Collingwood.

Early AFL betting markets for 2010 have the Pies on 14.00 for next season's competition, with favourites St Kilda Saints on 4.30 with Betfair.

The same bookmaker has Collingwood on 1.36 to reach the top eight of the ladder by the end of next term's regular season.

Collingwood recruiting manager Derek Hine told the Pies official website: "Darren fills a need, where both Josh Fraser and Cameron Wood need support, and when you look at what Darren's achieved in his career to date, he's certainly in the top bracket of ruckmen in the competition."

Also on a recruitment drive this week were Brisbane Lions, who are trying to secure the services of full-forward Brendan Fevola, currently with Carlton.

Brisbane, who have so far been among the most active AFL sides in the current trade period, are on odds of 17.00 for the 2010 AFL Premiership with Centrebet.

Other odds include 3.90 for the Geelong Cats, and 6.50 for the Western Bulldogs with the same bookmaker.
