World Cup odds for both Portugal and France dipped modestly following their progress through the competition's qualification play-offs.Portugal beat Bosnia 1-0 away on Wednesday to progress 2-0 on aggregate, while France progressed courtesy of a fortunate 1-1 draw with Ireland in Paris, going through 2-1 on aggregate.
Betfair's early World Cup betting market recorded dips in the odds for both teams, followed by a stabilisation to 18.50 for France and 21.00 for Portugal.
Neither side shone in the group qualification process, with France at one stage on 30.00 and Portugal as high as 70.00 to clinch next year's tournament in South Africa.
France's draw with Ireland on Wednesday was particularly controversial, with French striker Thierry Henry handling the ball in the build-up to the equalising goal.
However, neither the linesman nor the referee appeared to spot the infringement and the strike was given.
Henry quickly admitted the handball, saying: "I will be honest, it was a handball. But I'm not the ref. I played it, the ref allowed it. That's a question you should ask him."
Portugal came through in Zenica thanks to a goal from Raul Meireles, while the shock of the night was in Slovenia, where the home side beat Russia 1-0 to progress on away goals.
