Thorn Dancer trainer Frank Maynard is hoping his colt has better luck in the Carlton Mid Handicap on Saturday than he did last weekend. The horse looked to have the group 2 WA Guineas in the bag before Clueless Dancer snatched the win with a fightback.
Maynard told Perthracing.com.au the promising horse will be among the ones to beat in the 1500m run today following his narrow denial last time out.
“He looked home in the Guineas but when he hits the lead too early he tends to lose concentration. However the run of Clueless Angel was very impressive and she looks a nice type.
"From barrier one on Saturday, Paul (Harvey) should have him in the box seat and he should be hard to beat."
The trainer is also hoping the horse can go on to the group 1 Go For 2 & 5 Kingston Town Classic over 1800 metres at Ascot on December 2.
Betting for the Carlton Mid Handicap at IASbet currently has Thorn Dancer as the favourite on 1.80, while Hallowell Express is closest to this on 7.00 with the same bookmaker.
