Attention was already turning to next week even as the whistle was blown on the West Tigers' crushing NRL victory over Cronulla. The Tigers roared into the top eight again with their 56 - 10 result, which had the players already looking to the next tie with Parramatta.
The fixture is hotly anticipated as it not only represents fifth versus eighth, but also a clash between two of the competition's most eye-catching players of late - the Tigers' Benji Marshall and Parramatta's Jarryd Hayne.
Hayne is seen as one of the form performers while Marshall has shown something of a revival after he was handed the number six shirt following a stint at halfback.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Marshall said of Hayne: "Some of the stuff he did (against the Warriors) with the chip and chase. He's unbelievable. We're going to have a job to shut him down."
However, the Tigers should be confident going into Friday's tie having won their last six in a row.
What makes the clash all the more interesting is summed up by Steve Kaless, of TheRoar.com.au, who points out that at one stage of the season both sides "were probably a better shout for the wooden spoon than they were the title".
The Tigers currently stand at 17.00 for the Premiership, with Parramatta at 13.00, with sportingbet.com.au.
