A miracle comeback for Richmond defender Graham Polak could be the catalyst for an AFL upset on Saturday.Polak could take to the field for the first time since being hit by a tram and placed in a medically-induced coma last year.
He has now completed an intense rehabilitation programme from the reserves upwards and is in the 22 for the clash with Hawthorn at the MCG.
Attention is firmly on the 25-year-old's miracle return as the season has been a disappointment for both sides.
Polak suffered swelling on the brain following last year's incident, with Friday's media conference drawing questions on how he feels about getting back into action again.
He said: "I'm not going to step back from that challenge and if the ball is there to be won, I'll be throwing everything into it."
Defending title holders the Hawks are currently in 11th on the ladder with Richmond in 14th.
Going into the Saturday night clash, Richmond have lost two in a row but the Hawks have gone down in their last four on the trot.
A potentially Polak-inspired Richmond stand at 3.15 with IASbet.com, while Hawthorn are the favourites on 1.37 with the same bookmaker.
