One-time Caulfield Cup favourite Predatory Pricer is out for the spring after picking up an injury in Saturday's headline race.
The Paul Murray-trained entire sustained a suspensory ligament injury in the run and was due to undergo further testing on Monday.
He is due for a scan at Ballarat Veterinary Clinic but Murray has already ruled him out of more action this season.
Predatory Pricer ended up unplaced on Saturday having led the betting for the race earlier in the week after Maldivian pulled out injured and Speed Gifted was held for an alternative Melbourne Cup route.
The offside foreleg is the source of the problem and it is thought he could be out for three to six months depending on the extent of the damage.
It was expected Predatory Pricer would appear in this Saturday's Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.
Quoted by the Illawarra Mercury, Murray said: "He was very lame, the off-side front leg had a lot of heat in it.
"It looks like a tendon, that's it for now at least.''
Whobegotyou currently heads the betting for Saturday's race, on odds of 2.60 with IASbet, with Speed Gifted running on odds of 7.00 with the same bookmaker.
