The Ballarat Turf Club
Established in 1854, the Ballarat Turf Club is located 15km north-west of the Ballarat CBD. The Club holds 30 race meetings each season which is the most races on any grass circuit in Victoria.
The principal race at this track is the 2200m listed open handicap Ballarat Cup, held annually in November. It’s the final feature event of the Victorian Spring Racing Carnival and prize money is worth $130,000. Midweek races are held on various days throughout the year as well as the Family Fun Race Day, Christmas Party Race Day and the Winter in the Forest Races
Ballarat is also known for its steeple and hurdle races, with both a new and old track with a capacity for 18 horses on the field. The track is anticlockwise with a 1900m circumference and features a 450m straight track.
