South Korea v Greece betting tips
An interesting match up between two relatively successful teams in recent years. Greece won the Euro Championships in 2004, and South Korea, albeit with a little help from some dubious officiating, managed to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup as joint hosts in 2002. Expect a cautious start to the group from both, possibly resulting in a score draw

Germany v Australia betting tips
You can never write off the Germans….before every World Cup you will hear this phrase at least once. Their professionalism, determination and never-say die attitude put them in with a shout at most major tournaments, even when they are a team lacking superstars, as they are at the moment. However, this could also have been written about any Aussie team in any sport! At the end of the day the result will come down to ability, and I expect the Germans to outbox the Socceroos in this one

Ivory Coast v Portugal betting tips
The Group of Death, a term used for one of the groups before every World Cup. This time it is Group G, where we will lose at least one of Brazil, Portugal or the Ivory Coast. So the likes of Drogba, Ronaldo or Kaka will be missing from the second round. This is the first game in the group, and a good start is imperative, but not losing is even more so. Expect a tight game to be lit up by touches of Genius here and there, but resulting in a stalemate between two evenly matched teams

Argentina v South Korea betting tips
You would imagine that any team being led in to battle by a massively overweight drug addict who liberally shoots journalists for camping outside their home would have absolutely no chance of performing well in the World Cup. In my opinion you would be right, but Argentina do have a wealth of talent comparable to any team in the world at their disposal. However, the fact that Maradona basically puts the names of his players in to a hat, and whichever 11 he picks out is the team that will represent his nation that day cannot be good for the stability of a team that historically does not perform well outside their own continent. I expect South Korea to earn a hard fought point through good organisation and determination

England v Algeria betting tips
I would expect England to be able to put out any combination of players from their squad and win this game comfortably, but this is England. They do not do things the easy way, and invariably leave themselves needing a win from their last game to progress! I cannot see that happening under the watchful gaze of Fabio Capello though, and expect England to win comfortably

Italy v New Zealand betting tips
The only chance New Zealand have of winning this game is with an egg-shaped ball. Can they possibly get themselves organised enough to maybe hold on and snatch a draw against the sometimes unpredictable reigning World Champions? No. Italy win

France v South Africa betting tips
The last game in Group A sees the hosts take on 1998 winners France. The hosts have never failed to qualify from the Group Stages of a World Cup, but there is a first time for everything. If France have already qualified from the group by the time this game takes place, I would imagine that South Africa would already be out and would only be playing for pride anyway, but don't expect them to go out with a bang in this one! If France need a win to qualify, they will get it

USA v Algeria betting tips
There could be something riding on this, the last game in Group C. USA have a tough opening game against England, and should they lose it, they will need a result from this game to qualify. I therefore pick them to edge out the Africans in a tight encounter

Cameroon v Holland betting tips
In a tricky group this game could be quite meaningful. The Dutch always make a meal of every major tournament after promising much beforehand, and the Cameroons are an unknown quantity, laced with talent, but prone to catastrophic blunders defensively! A lot will depend on the standings in the group at the time these two play, but I think a win will seal Dutch qualification and end the Indomitable Lions' hopes for another 4 years
