Whelan, who suffered a groin strain during the Republic of Ireland’sWorld Cup play off against France, was training with his team mates this
week.
Stoke City are not having the best time of it recently, with a number of
injuries plaguing the team as well as more controversial setbacks that
have kept them without a captain at one point.
EPL betting at Sportsbet has Stoke on 4.10 to win, making them
considerable outsider's to the home team's odds of 1.92.
Stoke captain Abdoulaye Faye is finally available for the team after his
suspension from the game, which saw him miss the last match Stoke played
against Portsmouth.
Blackburn is hoping for a fully fit side too.
Brett Emerton, who suffered a knee problem, and Gael Givet, who had
difficulties with his thigh, are both expected to return to support
Blackburn at the weekend.
The team will not be able to enjoy the guidance of Sam Allardyce, their
manager, who is undergoing heart surgery.
