Tipsters note open fields on Saturday's race cards

 Tipping specialists have taken a cautious tone with Saturday's Flemington and Randwick cards as a number of races feature open fields.

With much attention focussed on Randwick's 10-race card and Flemington's group 1 races, Betfair's Kristen Manning pointed to the group 4 2530m Bart Cummings at Flemington.

Manning said in her weekly Betfair preview: "Fordee looks nicely placed to run a bold race. He has finished off his two races this preparation well and connections have always thought well of him as a staying prospect.

"Hot Danish will have plenty of fans in the Blazer Stakes but she has drawn awkwardly."

Fordee is on 8.60 with Betfair for the Bart Cummings, while Naval Escort was the favourite on Friday at 7.80, followed by Hoorang on 8.00.

The Pom de Turf at bet-au.com also pointed out the open feel of the Flemington fixtures and the tight betting markets for Randwick.

Weather could influence the betting at Randwick, where showers fell on Friday and forecasters predicted further rain for Saturday, which could lead to a dead track.

Among trainers eyeing the weather is Marc Conners, who could pull Mr Clangtastic from The Metropolitan at Randwick if the track is rated good.
