UFC-MMA Sunday 1st September 2013: The odds and our tips
Varner v Tibau head to head odds
Fighter | Odds | |
---|---|---|
Varner | $1.79 | |
Tibau | $1.94 |
Jamie Varner has been enjoying something of a resurgence over the last year or so, and the next challenge in front of him is Gleison Tibau. He’s the favourite, as you can see above, at $1.79, but not by much – Tibau’s at $1.94. Varner was responsible for one of the biggest upsets of last year when he knocked out Barboza, and he took a split decision over Guillard at UFC 155, so he comes into this fight with some momentum behind him, but he isn’t the only one. Tibau has won five from his last seven, going back to 2011, and he’s an experienced UFC fighter with 19 bouts behind him. This one will be close...
Poirier v Koch head to head odds
Fighter | Odds | |
---|---|---|
Poirier | $2.17 | |
Koch | $1.64 |
The 145 division is full of quality at the moment, and these two are no exception. The nature of the UFC, though, is that if you’re not winning, the pressure starts to build on you, and you need to justify your place. Both Poirier and Koch are looking for the win that will get them moving forwards again, and it’s Koch who’s the favourite at $1.64 to win this one. Poirier is an evolving talent, and he’s a scrappy fighter with bags of talent. If Koch makes the first mistake, then it could go Poirier’s way. He’s never been knocked out, which is an impressive claim , but Koch has the striking game to be the first man to do it, and he has enough submission wins behind him for that to be a big threat, too...
Rothwell v Vera head to head odds
Fighter | Odds | |
---|---|---|
Rothwell | $2.14 | |
Vera | $1.65 |
Brandon Vera is back at Heavyweight for the first time in five years, and he’s $1.65 favourite to register a win over Ben Rothwell that will give him some momentum. This should be a good fight to watch – the Heavyweights usually make for a great spectacle. Rothwell’s at $2.14, but could perform better than expected. He’s been up and down in his form, alternating wins and losses for the past few years, and will be looking to find a bit of consistency. This is another good fight in store on what is already looking like a great card for UFC 164 on September 1st...
