There will be lots of attention on this match-up come December 14th and a night of UFC action on Fox: Edson Barboza is a genuine rising talent with a good string of wins behind him, and ambitions of making a real name for himself in the UFC. He’s quick, strong and very dangerous, and he has bounced back nicely from his first career defeat – to Jamie Varner – by scoring two wins in the bouts between that loss and this fight.

But there will be concerns in Barboza’s camp about the similarities between the things that Varner did to make him uncomfortable, and the strengths that Danny Castillo will bring to their fight on the 14th. Castillo might not be quite so well regarded as Barboza (the internet is pretty excited about Barboza, though, so that’s not saying all that much...), but he’s a definite talent, and he is an athletic, busy fighter who brings a strong wrestling game with him into the fight. And if he’s able to bring that to bear on Barboza, then this could be a genuinely intriguing fight to watch. Castillo, then, might be decent value at $2.56, but it will depend if he can convert the discomfort he’ll cause Barboza into opportunities to win the fight...
