Peter Moody believes a wide barrier is no problem for mare Typhoon Tracy in the Myer Classic on Saturday. The group 1 1600m race is one of the major sideshows to the Victoria Derby and features a small but talented field.
Typhoon Tracy has been the favourite all week, on odds of 2.10, ahead of Hot Danish at 5.00 with IASbet.
She will go from a wide barrier 13 in the race but trainer Moody thinks she has enough class to make good her odds.
He told Sports 927: "She's blessed with brilliant speed, but her greatest attribute is her ability to relax.
"She's been started up from wide gates in numerous races to go across the face of fields and then she's put her head on her chest and gone to sleep.
"Not many horses can do that."
He added although he would have preferred a barrier seven or eight draw, he felt 13 was 'not much of a disadvantage'.
Also in the running is Gold Water, trained by Gai Waterhouse and on odds of 7.50, while Neroli is at 8.50 with IASbet and trained by Peter Snowden.
