Commentators have warned the Wallabies still have some growing to do despite an encouraging win against England at Twickenham.Australia face Ireland today at Croke Park – on Sunday afternoon in Ireland but in the early hours of Monday morning in Australia.
Greg Clark analysed how the tour has gone so far and warned the Irish could be a much stiffer test than the English, who fielded a side weakened by injuries when beaten 18-9 by the Wallabies last Saturday.
Australia will field a team largely unchanged today and will have to deal with the atmosphere produced by a sell-out home crowd.
Clark wrote of the England game: "The Wallabies squandered scoring opportunities again. Until they regain the confidence to finish off their attacking raids, they’ll continue to have the critics on their back.
"There were some positives, though, and that gives me some hope for Monday morning’s clash."
He pointed to a strong scrum, but added Australia will need to work on their lineout if they are to secure a tour Grand Slam.
Betfair's rugby betting market still has Ireland as the favourites for Sunday's test, on odds of 1.88 to Australia's 2.26.
