Australia captain Darren Lockyer has said his side's hammering of England in last year's World Cup will have no influence on the feel of Saturday's Four Nations game.

Australia need to overcome England in Wigan to boost their campaign after drawing with New Zealand in the their opening match.

The Kangaroos are the hot favourites for the tie on 1.13, with England at 6.00 with Sportsbet.

Also the tournament favourites, Australia routed England 52-4 almost a year to the day on Saturday in last year's World Cup.

But Lockyer believes this result will have no bearing on the re-match.

"It's a tough game, I'm sure England will have looked at the tape and will be trying to do a couple of things the Kiwis did against us. We need to be prepared for that," he told the officials Four Nations website.

He said last year's result over England in the World Cup would have "no bearing at all" on Saturday's game.

He added: "Our composure wasn't where it needed to be last week, the Kiwis got in our faces and we didn't handle that too well."

Giant forward Sam Burgess was picked out as one of the England players Lockyer felt his side will have to watch in the tie at the DW Stadium.
